Week Seven

I have started writing my dissertation by writing reviews on two contemporary photographers as Martina asked and she will be looking over them and telling me how I could improve them for my dissertation. I have also been working on my chapter outlines for how my dissertation will flow and what I will b writing about.

Week Six

I have started to research my condition in depth. I have looked in the library for all potential resources for my new dissertation. I have also gone online, looking for newer resources for my dissertation. I have bought a book authored by Dr Luke Beardon who has years of experience with autistic people and their families. As the book was published in 2017 it is very up to date and full of relevent information.

Week Five

In the group tutorial Mohini looked over my chapter outlines and was satisfied with my plans for my dissertation. I plan on continuing my research and begin to write my introduction before seeing Martina later in the week. After Martina's small group tutorial, I was panicked and worrying about what I would do for my dissertation. My anxiety and stress levels were such that I ended up ill on top of everything. I decided to spend the weekend thinking on what I could do for my dissertation without losing all of the research that I had done over the summer. I also wanted to recover from the stress and anxiety which meant a day in bed not thinking about it as well as other measures. I mind mapped what was important to me and what strongly influences my practice. After a lot of thinking, over a few days I decided to use my disability, Autism.

Week Four/Careers Week

During Careers Week I spent time researching the different photographers and conservation campaigns that I will be using in my dissertation. I will be looking at how they use their images to have an effect on their intended audience. I will also be looking at how I can determine a target audience for my own images and how I can convey a message to them.

Week Three

This week I will be working on my Chapter outlines, I will use the time over careers week to do this and to research even more into what is relevant for each chapter of my dissertation. I will do more in depth research into the different photographers and campaigns that I will choose for each chapter. I will be working with my 1 to 1 to plot the chapter outlines and make it easy for me to know what goes in each chapter so I know what to write. Working with my 1 to 1 I have outlined the basics for my chapter outlines and I need to plot out the details of the chapter outlines which will provide me with prompts when I start writing my dissertation.

Week One

After compiling research over the summer holidays I started the year feeling that I was in a good place to start my dissertation. I worked with my DSA study skills worker, Louise Noakes, to organise my research into different sections which would allow me to streamline the relevant information for each section of my dissertation. My dissertation was looking at the way that photography has aided conservation in the UK. I haven't figured out the best way to word it yet, but I hope that with the dissertation sessions I will be able to. I have been using resources such as the RSPB magazine which comes out quarterly and is factual as it outlines the different conservation projects that they are doing as well as interesting facts about nature in general. I have also looked into the history of conservation in the UK as limited as it may be having only really started in terms of widespread awareness in the 1980's. I plan to use this as background knowledge for my dissertation. I will...
